As a frequent visitor of Gold Beach for years, I came across Barnacle Bistro for a lunch stop between meetings. In a small and octogon shaped building right on highway 101, the restaurant has lots of windows and a casual vibe. The rotating specials are interesting and the staff are friendly. Fresh garlic french fries and creative salads are simple and reliable staples, but the most memorable dish I have had was the Curry Cider Mussels.
I can also vouch for the Crazy Cranny sandwich (turkey, havarti, cranberry relish, greens, bacon and jalepeno mustard etc.) made with cranberry sauce from local cranberries.
Rural Oregon doesn’t offer the most memorable options for casual dining, but Barnacle Bistro would thrive anywhere. It is a must stop destination on the southern coast of Oregon.
